The Uncalculated Mandate

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo stated that he did not receive an official invitation to the White House Summit on COVID-19. He only learned of the event through news reports and social media posts, prompting his decision to write a letter to the White House questioning the scientific basis of the gathering.

Ladapo’s letter to the White House criticized the summit for its perceived focus on promoting vaccines and boosters, arguing that the event lacked a balanced discussion of the risks and benefits of COVID-19 vaccinations. He emphasized the importance of informed consent and asserted that the summit appeared to downplay the potential side effects of vaccines.

Despite the lack of an official invitation, Ladapo expressed willingness to attend the summit if invited, but reiterated his concerns about the scientific integrity of the event. He requested access to any data or analysis used to support the summit’s conclusions regarding COVID-19 vaccines. He also suggested that Florida’s own data and research on vaccine effectiveness be considered.
