Racist Video Shuts York Eatery; Lawsuit Filed

The Copper Crust Company, a York County, Pennsylvania restaurant known for its wood-fired pizzas and farm-to-table approach, has abruptly closed its doors after eight years in operation. Owner David Lentz cited insurmountable staffing challenges as the primary reason for the closure.

According to Lentz, the persistent difficulty in finding and retaining qualified employees, particularly line cooks and servers, created an unsustainable work environment and negatively impacted the restaurant’s ability to maintain its quality and service standards. Despite efforts to attract and retain staff, including offering competitive wages and benefits, the problem persisted.

The restaurant had gained a strong local following for its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients and its unique culinary offerings. The closure leaves a void in the York County dining scene. Lentz expressed gratitude to his loyal customers and dedicated employees who contributed to the restaurant’s success over the years. He also indicated he needed to take time for his own well-being, suggesting the stress of operating the restaurant under these circumstances took a personal toll. The final day of operation was not announced, leaving some customers surprised by the sudden closure.
