GJ Airport: New Horizons

The Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority (GJRAA) has approved a new five-year agreement with United Airlines, ensuring continued service to Denver International Airport (DIA) with a minimum of seven daily flights. This agreement locks in vital air service for the Western Slope region, providing crucial connectivity to Denver and beyond.

The agreement, set to begin in October, also includes incentives for United to potentially add additional service based on performance metrics like passenger load factors. The GJRAA is committing to marketing and advertising support to promote the routes.

This move comes after months of negotiation, addressing concerns about potential service reductions amid industry-wide pilot shortages and fluctuating travel demand. The continued robust schedule to DIA is considered critical for business, tourism, and general connectivity for residents of the Grand Valley.

GJRAA officials emphasized the importance of the partnership with United and the positive impact the agreement will have on the local economy and community. The stability provided by this multi-year agreement will allow for better planning and forecasting for the airport and its stakeholders.
