Recently, there were some cases of the bubonic plague going around. A few days ago, boy from Mongolia had passed away from it. Then, a squirrel in Colorado tested positive for the disease. Now, a person from Colorado tested positive for the plague.

This is all very concerning to me. I am especially concerned about how the US would handle an outbreak of the plague. We are still struggling to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak. Hospitals around the country are overwhelmed, and cases in some states are on the rise. If there was an outbreak of the bubonic plague, on top of the current COVID-19 pandemic, it would be disastrous. Places may have to go on lockdown for longer periods of time, which would have an even greater strain on the economy, the healthcare system, and average Americans. I hope that won’t be the case, but in this day and age, anything is possible, including a possible outbreak of the plague.
