Gas Station Note Foils Utah Kidnapping

Utah police intervened in a potential kidnapping after receiving a call about a woman yelling for help from a moving vehicle. The caller provided a description of the SUV and its license plate. Officers located and stopped the vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Gavin Bolin, in Provo.

Inside, they found a 20-year-old woman who said Bolin had assaulted and kidnapped her. The woman stated she had been held against her will at Bolin’s residence in Spanish Fork and repeatedly assaulted. She recounted attempts to escape, including screaming for help out the car window.

Bolin admitted to having a physical altercation with the woman but claimed it was consensual. He was arrested and faces charges including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and obstruction of justice. The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the relationship between Bolin and the woman have not been released. The woman was treated for injuries sustained during the alleged assault.
