Broken Promises: School Funding Fiasco

The article argues that the promise of bipartisan support to “fully fund” public education is a deceptive tactic employed during election campaigns. It asserts that both the Democratic and Republican parties are committed to continuing the long-term decline of public schools, regardless of which party wins the election.

The piece suggests that the political establishment’s actions contradict their rhetoric about supporting public education. The author points to a history of budget cuts, privatization efforts, and the promotion of charter schools as evidence of a deliberate effort to undermine the public school system. These policies, allegedly enacted by both parties, have led to overcrowded classrooms, underpaid teachers, and a lack of resources for students.

The author suggests that “fully funding” public education is simply a talking point intended to appeal to voters. Instead, they expect a continuation of austerity measures and policies that will further erode the quality of public education. The article implies that the public should be wary of politicians’ promises regarding education and understand the underlying agenda of dismantling public education.
