Tiger Resolve

The Texas National Guard’s 36th Infantry Division held a deployment ceremony for its Tiger Brigade Combat Team, sending approximately 400 soldiers to Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. This deployment marks the first time in over a decade that a brigade headquarters is deployed to the continent. The soldiers will be stationed at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, serving as the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa headquarters.

Their mission involves supporting partner nations in East Africa, focusing on countering violent extremist organizations, enhancing regional stability, and improving humanitarian efforts. The Tiger Brigade will oversee training exercises, infrastructure development projects, and security cooperation initiatives across multiple countries.

The ceremony emphasized the significance of the deployment and the importance of the brigade’s mission in a strategically vital region. The unit’s leadership highlighted the rigorous training and preparation undertaken to ensure mission success and expressed confidence in the soldiers’ capabilities. The deployment is expected to last approximately nine months, with the brigade replacing the Massachusetts National Guard’s 101st Engineer Battalion.
