Freeway Chase Fatality

A high-speed police chase in Orange County, California, ended in a fatal crash that killed an innocent bystander. The pursuit began when deputies attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in Anaheim. The suspect, driving the stolen car, fled, leading deputies on a chase through multiple cities.

During the pursuit, the suspect ran a red light at an intersection in Stanton and collided with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as a 69-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the stolen vehicle and the commencement of the pursuit, but provided limited details about the events leading up to the crash. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. Authorities are withholding the identities of both the suspect and the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
