Echoes of the Lost: A Cold Case Solved

Riley Strain, a 22-year-old University of Missouri student, disappeared in downtown Nashville on March 8, 2024, after being kicked out of Luke Bryan’s bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge. Strain was in Nashville for a fraternity spring formal. He was last seen by friends around 10 PM.

After being escorted from the bar, Strain’s friends lost contact with him. His phone last pinged near a cell tower miles away from the bar, and his location history showed him walking in a direction away from his hotel. Security camera footage captured him stumbling and briefly interacting with a police officer.

A massive search effort involving police, volunteers, and Strain’s family was launched. Searches focused on the Cumberland River and surrounding areas. Authorities reviewed video footage and interviewed witnesses in an attempt to piece together his last known movements.

On March 22, 2024, Strain’s body was recovered from the Cumberland River, about eight miles from downtown Nashville. There were no immediate signs of foul play, according to police. An autopsy was conducted to determine the cause and manner of death. The investigation is ongoing.
