Interfaith Friday #5: Christian Nationalism and the Erosion of True Religious Liberty

A growing movement of Christian nationalism—where the government is seen as an instrument of a singular, conservative religious vision—threatens pluralism in America.

Recent legislation in several states requires “Biblical values education” in public schools, and public funding is increasingly funneled into explicitly Christian programs. This marginalizes non-Christian, progressive, and secular voices alike.

“Christianity doesn’t need to dominate to flourish,” says Rev. Maya Brooks. “For true religious freedom, all beliefs—including none—must be protected.”

Progressive interfaith groups are working to preserve the First Amendment for everyone.
