Last Chance Millions

A Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $1 million, purchased at a Speedway gas station in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, is set to expire soon if unclaimed. The winning numbers were drawn on September 3, 2023, and the prize must be claimed within one year of the draw date, before 5 p.m. ET on September 3, 2024.

Rhode Island Lottery officials are urging residents to check their tickets, especially those purchased at the Woonsocket Speedway. The ticket matched five numbers but missed the Mega Ball, earning it the second-tier prize.

This unclaimed million-dollar prize is not the only instance of forgotten lottery winnings. Across the United States, substantial lottery winnings go unclaimed annually, often due to lost tickets, unawareness of winning, or simple forgetfulness. Lottery officials in various states make efforts to remind players to check their tickets to avoid such losses.
