Donetsk Frontlines

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces are inflicting “extremely significant” losses on Russian troops in the eastern part of the country. The fighting is particularly intense in the Donetsk region, specifically around the city of Bakhmut, Soledar, and other locations. Zelenskyy emphasized that while the situation remains difficult, Ukrainian soldiers are holding their ground and inflicting maximum casualties on the enemy.

He acknowledged the ongoing challenges and praised the resilience and bravery of the Ukrainian defenders. The President also highlighted the need for continued international support, specifically mentioning the importance of air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. He reiterated that the more support Ukraine receives, the sooner the war will end.

Zelenskyy’s comments come amidst reports of heavy fighting and escalating casualties on both sides. The battle for Bakhmut, in particular, has been ongoing for months, with both sides pouring resources into the effort. Despite the difficult situation, Zelenskyy remains optimistic about Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and ultimately prevail.
