Noem’s TSA Blame Game

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is facing widespread criticism for details revealed in her upcoming book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.” The controversy centers on an anecdote where she describes shooting and killing her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, because the dog was untrainable and “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with.”

The excerpt describes Cricket’s disruptive behavior, including ruining a pheasant hunt and attacking neighbors’ chickens. Noem details how she took Cricket to a gravel pit and shot her. The book also mentions Noem shooting a goat the same day.

The incident has triggered a firestorm of disapproval, with animal welfare advocates, political commentators, and ordinary citizens expressing outrage and disbelief. Critics question Noem’s judgment and temperament, arguing that the story reveals a disturbing lack of empathy. Some have even suggested the incident reflects poorly on her potential as a vice-presidential candidate.

In response, Noem defended her actions, stating she made a difficult decision and suggesting that life on a farm often requires such choices. She also blamed Democrats and the media for twisting the story and using it as a political weapon against her. She has maintained that she is not backing down from her political stances and will continue to fight for conservative values. Despite her defense, the controversy continues to overshadow her book release and has significantly damaged her public image.
