Could HasanAbi’s Dog Controversy Hurt Zohran Mamdani’s Mayoral Chances?

Here’s something wild that I’ve been thinking about: Zohran Mamdani and his connection to HasanAbi. And now, with this alleged dog abuse clip, his chances in the NYC mayoral race could actually be affected. And what’s crazier? I predicted months ago that Zohran and his connections to Hasan — just being linked to him — could possibly impact Zohran’s chances. And now, we may actually be seeing that scenario play out.

The backlash to HasanAbi allegedly shocking or abusing his dog is huge. It’s not just online chatter — it’s hitting mainstream awareness. Clips, discussions, threads, and coverage are all over the place. And the longer this backlash continues, the more likely it is that voters or supporters who might have otherwise supported Zohran could start distancing themselves, simply because of his association with Hasan.

Zohran may soon find himself in a position where he’s forced to make a statement. If the criticism grows louder, if polling starts showing it affecting his support, or if people directly call him out for being connected to HasanAbi, he may have no choice but to publicly distance himself. And that would be a tricky situation politically, because admitting any kind of error by association could alienate parts of his base — but staying silent risks the backlash continuing to grow.

Interestingly, when I made my earlier predictions about Zohran and HasanAbi, my focus was more on issues like Zionism and Hasan platforming figures like Matt Duss. I thought those connections alone might be politically risky for Zohran. But now, the dog incident — seemingly unrelated to politics, more personal or cultural — could also have real-world political consequences. It’s a reminder that in today’s media landscape, influencer controversies can ripple into completely different arenas, including elections.

What makes this situation even more critical is the timing. The alleged dog incident happened so close to the general election — the moment when every move, every perception, and every slip-up matters. This is a period where campaigns need things to go smoothly, where optics are crucial, and where last-minute controversies can have outsized effects on voter perception. One misstep at this stage can seriously damage a candidate’s chances of winning. And right now, Zohran Mamdani might be standing on that precipice. The backlash to HasanAbi, amplified by mainstream coverage and online discussions, could directly influence how voters perceive Zohran by association. Timing isn’t everything in politics — but in this case, it might be everything.

Something that’s really striking to me is that nobody seems to be connecting the dots. Nobody seems to be worrying about how this backlash — regardless of whether every detail is 100 percent credible or not — could actually have a real impact on the NYC mayoral race. The potential consequences are obvious: HasanAbi’s controversy could influence public perception of Zohran Mamdani by association, and yet, almost no one is talking about it. Not leftists, not rightists, not centrists — it’s like the possibility doesn’t even exist in the conversation. I find that genuinely surprising. In an election this close, with stakes this high, you’d think people would at least be discussing how a major streamer controversy might ripple into politics, but for some reason, that discussion is largely absent.

To add to that, either this conversation is completely absent, or it’s immediately dismissed. Sometimes the backlash is written off as “just online drama” or framed as some orchestrated attack by Zionists and right-wingers. But no — we need to step back and look at the broader narrative. Stop focusing solely on Hasan as a person and his actions. Step back and consider the real possibility that this incident could affect Zohran Mamdani’s chances in the NYC mayoral race.

And I don’t say that lightly, or jokingly. I know it might sound like a meme, or a joke, or even satire — “oh, the dog clip affects an election?” — but it’s not. I am 100 percent serious. In politics, optics and associations matter, sometimes more than actual facts. The perception of controversy, especially around someone connected to a candidate, can shift voter behavior in very real ways. And right now, the conversation around this is either missing, minimized, or mischaracterized — which is why I find it so concerning.

We also need to recognize that this kind of scenario isn’t unprecedented. We’ve already seen something similar in 2016 with Anthony Weiner. I recently watched a video from GamerFromMars highlighting how Weiner’s actions in 2016 may have possibly affected the outcome of the election and contributed to Hillary Clinton’s loss. Now, of course, we can’t say for certain that Weiner’s scandal was the deciding factor — there were a multitude of influences and events that shaped that election. But what we can’t do is rule out the possibility that his actions didn’t play a role.

The lesson here is that controversies, especially those involving personal misconduct or scandals connected to influential figures, can ripple far beyond the individuals directly involved. They can influence voter perception, media narratives, and ultimately, election results. That’s why the potential political consequences of the HasanAbi dog controversy for Zohran Mamdani are worth taking seriously, rather than dismissing as “just online drama.”

So yeah, it’s possible that the alleged dog abuse incident isn’t just about HasanAbi or his stream — it could be impacting a mayoral race in NYC. Zohran may need to act quickly if he wants to prevent long-term damage to his campaign. The lesson here is clear: in the interconnected worlds of politics and online influence, association alone can carry real consequences — especially when ethical or moral concerns are involved.

And if this does happen — if what I’ve predicted actually comes to fruition and Zohran Mamdani loses — people are inevitably going to be looking for the reasons why. Of course, there will be many factors contributing to any election outcome, and I’m not saying there will be one single, definitive reason for a loss. But we cannot rule out the possibility that HasanAbi’s dog controversy could be one of those factors, at least partially.

Think about it: who would want an animal abuser — or someone closely associated with one — connected to their government? History has shown that the way politicians and public figures treat animals can affect public perception and even campaign outcomes. So this isn’t some trivial or irrelevant consideration.

Even if Zohran himself didn’t engage in any wrongdoing, his connection to Hasan matters. He’s publicly on good terms with Hasan, he’s appeared on Hasan’s stream, and he shares a visible association with him. That’s not something that voters or the public are likely to dismiss lightly. In politics, associations carry weight, and in this case, the potential fallout from HasanAbi’s alleged actions could be a real deciding factor in Zohran’s campaign.

And of course, if my prediction comes true and Zohran does lose — even partially because of HasanAbi and the dog incident — the fallout is going to play out in predictable ways. Hasan’s detractors, including some on the left, will likely take glee in it, using it as proof that he caused tangible political harm and rubbing it in his face. At the same time, right-wing and centrist critics will probably mock the entire situation, turning it into a spectacle for entertainment or ridicule.

Meanwhile, Hasan’s defenders will almost certainly try to deflect and spin the narrative. Expect claims that it was some kind of orchestrated Zionist or right-wing plot aimed at taking Zohran down, rather than acknowledging the real-world consequences of Hasan’s own actions and associations. This mix of reactions — joy, mockery, and deflection — is exactly what makes these controversies so messy and impactful. It’s a reminder that online behavior and public perception can have very real, tangible consequences in the political world.

And of course, in all of this, the dog itself gets lost in the conversation. Right now, even without speculating about future political fallout, Kaya’s situation is already being overshadowed by debates, memes, and partisan arguments. But if Zohran does lose and the controversy gains more mainstream attention, the focus on the dog’s welfare will likely diminish even further. The animal at the center of this alleged abuse risks being completely forgotten, buried beneath political spin, attacks, and defenses. That’s part of the tragedy here — while everyone argues about politics, optics, and power, the very real issue of the dog’s well-being could be sidelined entirely.

And if we want to get really speculative, really hypothetical, it’s entirely possible that if Zohran loses, he could develop some resentment toward HasanAbi. Depending on how the public perceives the connection, Zohran might even blame HasanAbi — partially or fully — for contributing to his defeat. Political losses can create tension, and when an association with a controversial figure becomes a talking point in an election, it’s not unreasonable to imagine that Zohran could feel personally affected or frustrated by that connection. This is all hypothetical, of course, but in the high-stakes world of politics, these dynamics aren’t impossible.

Overall, this dog drama might seem like it’s just insulated internet drama, something confined to Twitch clips and Twitter threads, but it’s not. It’s much bigger than that. The backlash against HasanAbi right now is astronomical, and Zohran Mamdani is already navigating a campaign that’s on thin ice, even without this controversy.

It’s only a matter of time before people start connecting the dots and demanding that Hasan’s connections, including political figures, speak out. I’m sure that pressure is already building behind the scenes. If it continues to grow, politicians, political figures, streamers, and influencers associated with Hasan could find themselves in a situation where they have to publicly respond. Zohran could very well be forced to make a statement about HasanAbi, and at that point, no matter what he does, the political fallout could be complicated and unavoidable.

If Zohran defends Hasan, he risks being seen as condoning animal abuse. If he denounces Hasan, he risks being framed as capitulating to Zionists or right-wing narratives, potentially alienating parts of his base. And if he says nothing, he could be perceived as complicit by association. Even if he carefully crafts a statement, people on either side may reject it, interpreting it as weakness or a political dodge.

Right now, Zohran isn’t facing overt political pressure — yet. But if the backlash against HasanAbi continues to grow and becomes even more mainstream, the situation could escalate rapidly. Suddenly, the dog controversy isn’t just a streamer scandal; it becomes a potential political liability, and Zohran might find himself in a position where any choice he makes is fraught with risk. The implications of this are real, and the stakes could be very high.

Some might even wonder, if I’m bringing this up, am I contributing to the problem? Am I fueling speculation or creating a narrative that might not exist yet? And the answer is: not really. People are going to make the connections whether I say something or not. HasanAbi and Zohran Mamdani’s connection isn’t some hidden secret — Zohran literally appeared on Hasan’s livestream. He was in the same room as him. That’s as direct a connection as it gets.

It’s only a matter of time before people start noticing and making the links themselves. Who knows — it’s possible that many already are. And that’s why I think it’s important to start having these conversations now. We shouldn’t just focus on the alleged abuse itself, serious as it is. We also need to consider the broader implications and how something happening in online spaces — a viral clip, a scandal — can ripple outward and have real-world consequences. Talking about it openly ensures that these discussions happen responsibly, rather than being left to uncontrolled speculation after the fact.

This could turn into a test of accountability for both HasanAbi and Zohran Mamdani. Whether Zohran speaks up or stays silent might signal a lot about how seriously leftist candidates take ethical responsibility, both for their own actions and the company they keep.
