At this point, who the fuck cares who’s responsible for this government shutdown anymore? Seriously. Because the longer this goes on, none of these politicians look good. Not a single one. And when this is all said and done — whenever that is — no one will even fucking care how it started. They’ll just remember that it dragged on, that it hurt people, and that those in power let it happen.
It doesn’t matter if you say it’s the Republicans’ fault, or the Democrats’ fault, or Trump’s fault, or Biden’s holdovers, or whatever. At this stage, it’s everyone’s fault. Because once you let something like this stretch into weeks, into months, when people can’t pay rent, can’t buy food, can’t make ends meet — that’s not politics anymore, that’s cruelty.
And every single one of them up there in D.C. is complicit in it. Every senator, every representative, every so-called “leader.” Because they’re too busy posturing, playing the blame game, holding press conferences, tweeting out their “statements,” pretending they care. But they don’t care. Not really. Not when they’re still getting paid, still eating fine, still showing up for TV hits to argue over whose narrative wins.
Meanwhile, millions of Americans are caught in the middle, living paycheck to paycheck, and those paychecks just stopped coming. People are struggling, families are being put through hell, and these politicians are sitting on their asses pointing fingers. It’s pathetic.
And when this finally ends — because it will end, eventually — they’ll all come out claiming victory. “We stood firm.” “We didn’t back down.” “We got results.” Spare me. There are no winners here. The government failed. The people were hurt. That’s it.
The longer this goes on, the less the details matter. No one’s going to remember who said what, or what bill caused it, or which side blinked first. They’re just going to remember how the country ground to a halt while the rich and powerful debated how to save face.
So who the fuck cares who’s responsible? The answer is: none of us should. Because they all are. Every single one of them.
