COVID-19 May Have Woke People Up

The George Floyd protests that have been happening these past few days have become so widespread throughout America. They started in MN, and they spread out to the rest of the country. They are now on the East, on the West, and in the Midwest. As the protests grew widespread and more intense, I started to wonder why. Then, a realization hit me. They are so widespread like this because of COVID-19. With COVID-19, so many people are out of work. There are also a lot of people who are still working that are working from home. Because of that, people can’t really distract themselves from what’s going on by going to work. Thus, they’re gonna be paying a lot more attention to what’s going on on social media and on the news. In a way, the COVID-19 pandemic may have woke people up to the injustices of police brutality. It’s a shame that it took the death of George Floyd, combined with a global pandemic, to wake people up to what’s going on, but it is what it is. I believe, from here on out, people have a choice. The choice is this: do they continue to ignore the problem that’s in front of them, or do they take action? What will you choose?
