How the Fight Against Covid-19 Has Brought Us a Step Closer to an Orwellian Nightmare — Aletho News

Panic-buying, assaults, and other crazy things people are doing during the coronavirus pandemic

It’s no surprise to say at this point that people are doing some crazy shit during this coronavirus pandemic. You got people panic-buying supplies in such exorbitant amounts that they are leaving nothing for those who actually need the supplies. You also got people who aren’t social distancing, which not only puts themselves at risk, but puts other people at risk, as well! Then you got people assaulting Asians and anyone who is suspected of having symptoms of the coronavirus. There are also cases of people being bullied for either having the coronavirus, thinking that they have the virus, or simply sharing their stories regarding the coronavirus. You also got people who are downplaying the severity of the virus, making it seem less than what it is, or comparing it to the flu. That is dangerous because it gives people the false impression that the virus isn’t what it is. The amount of lives lost in such a short period of time is alarming, and it has killed a lot of people in such a short amount of time. There are also conspiracy theorists who have such insane theories about the virus and the response to the virus that they try to derail a train car to “expose” a conspiracy theory regarding Navy hospital ships being docked at the CA coast (this actually happened, by the way).

There is so much insanity going on right now in the world that it will make your head spin. The last thing anyone should be doing is acting irrational. To effectively fight this virus, people first have to stop downplaying it’s severity or comparing it to the flu. It’s not the flu. It’s killed people in a much more exponential rate compared to the flu. Secondly, people have to take the virus seriously and to social distance as much as possible to minimize the spread of the virus. Thirdly, people have to stop panic-buying and hoarding supplies in amounts that are not needed. Other people need to eat, drink, wipe their asses, wash their hands, and disinfect surfaces, too, you know! By taking supplies away from others, especially cleaning supplies, you are making it harder for people to minimize the spread of the virus. We have to promote good hygiene in order to combat this virus, and by doing that, we can’t have selfish dumbasses hoarding all of the supplies in the damn store! People need to think! Fourthly, people shouldn’t be hostile to one another. People, especially Asians, shouldn’t be assaulted or bullied in public or online for being suspected of having the virus. People also shouldn’t be bullied and harassed for sharing their coronavirus stories. To better understand this virus, we have to listen to other people’s stories. Their lives and stories are the key to finding a cure to this virus. By being hostile towards people who have, are suspected of having, know someone who has, or know someone who may have, the coronavirus, people will be less willing to share with anyone that they have the coronavirus, and that could put lives at risk, especially if its’ their own friends or family! In troubling times like this, we need honesty and openness, and by producing a toxic environment for people being honest about their coronavirus experiences, we are not only putting other people at risk, but we are also making it harder to understand this virus. Lastly, we need to hold people at the top accountable after this virus is over. China needs to be held accountable for trying to cover up the virus. The Trump administration needs to be held accountable for having a delayed response to the coronavirus and downplaying the severity of the virus for months. The corporations and businesses that had unsafe work conditions for their employees prior to and during the coronavirus, shipped jobs and manufacturing overseas prior to the coronavirus, and that were unessential and had refused to close at some point during the pandemic need to be held accountable, as well, and they should be sued for every penny they have. We also need a better economic and healthcare system; one where corporations can’t screw over the poor and working class while making the rich richer. We also need to hold individuals who refused to social distance or made a mockery of social distancing by contaminating food and products as a “prank” accountable, as well! It’s not a “prank” to contaminate food and products, especially during a pandemic. It’s just wasting supplies and money, and it hurts businesses and people who are already struggling during this pandemic. We need accountability, and I hope, after this coronavirus blows over, we can hold the appropriate entities and people accountable for their actions and try to improve the economy and healthcare system moving forward. Will this lead to a social democratic system, with medicare-for-all and high taxes for the super-wealthy? Will it lead to something totally different? Will it just be “business as usual?” Only time will tell.
