Students Against Deportation

On March 7, 2025, the International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE) organized a meeting at Texas A&M University to protest the Trump administration’s mass deportations. Approximately 30 people attended the event. The meeting aimed to galvanize opposition against what the IYSSE views as a brutal attack on immigrant workers and the working class as a whole.

Speakers at the meeting emphasized the connection between the deportations and broader issues of capitalist exploitation, war, and the erosion of democratic rights. They argued that the deportations serve to divide the working class and suppress wages while diverting attention from the failures of the capitalist system.

The IYSSE presenters highlighted the history of deportations in the US, tracing them back to the early 20th century and linking them to periods of economic crisis and social unrest. They emphasized that these policies are not new but a recurring feature of capitalist governments seeking to scapegoat immigrant workers. The meeting concluded with a call to action, urging students and workers to join the IYSSE in building a socialist movement to fight for the rights of all workers, regardless of immigration status, and to oppose the capitalist system that generates inequality and oppression. They encouraged attendees to participate in future IYSSE events and to study socialist theory to understand the roots of the crisis.
