Tariff Tantrum

Kayleigh McEnany, former White House Press Secretary under President Trump, experienced a setback in her legal battle against President Biden. The case revolves around McEnany’s claim that Biden’s administration improperly accessed and leaked her private personnel file to the press.

McEnany filed the lawsuit in 2021, alleging that her file, containing information such as medical records and family details, was disclosed to reporters at the New York Times and Politico after she left her White House position. She argues this was done with malicious intent to retaliate against her and embarrass her after her service under Trump.

However, a federal judge dismissed the case, stating that McEnany failed to sufficiently demonstrate that the Biden administration specifically targeted her or that the leaks were motivated by her political affiliation. The judge found no evidence directly linking the Biden administration to the alleged leaks and emphasized that McEnany hadn’t proved the administration acted in a way that would shock the conscience.

McEnany’s legal team argued that the timing of the leaks and the nature of the information suggested a politically motivated targeting. Despite these arguments, the court sided with the Biden administration, concluding that McEnany’s evidence fell short of establishing the necessary connection and intent required to prove her claims. McEnany has the option to appeal the ruling.
