Tackled, Detained, Deported.

A Venezuelan migrant, Jose Rivera, was arrested after allegedly attacking two women at the Hillsborough County Superior Court North in New Hampshire. Rivera reportedly punched one woman in the face and tackled another, injuring her knee, after they were entering the courthouse. The incident caused a brief lockdown of the courthouse.

Rivera was quickly apprehended by courthouse security and sheriff’s deputies. He was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and resisting arrest. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Rivera is a citizen of Venezuela and is unlawfully present in the United States. They have placed an immigration detainer on him, meaning they will seek to take custody of Rivera if he is released by state authorities.

The victims’ identities have not been released, but the woman who was tackled reportedly sustained a knee injury serious enough to require medical attention. Rivera is being held in jail pending his arraignment.
